The Tank Valve is a two-stage solenoid actuated CNG fuel cylinder valve. Its primary functions are:
1. To contain fuel within the cylinder up to pressures of 260 bar.
2. To operate in environments between –40°C and 85°C.
3. To allow fuel to flow out from the cylinder when 12 VDC is applied to the solenoid coil.
4. To shut off fuel flow from the cylinder when the solenoid coil power is removed.
5. To allow filling of the fuel cylinder with or without 12 VDC applied to the solenoid coil.
6. To allow for manually closing the valve and shutting off fuel flow to allow servicing of the solenoid valve.
7. To allow cascading of multiple tanks such that a single fill line can be used.
8. To allow for pressure relief and venting of tank contents via an included Pressure Relief Device (PRD).
9. To allow full engine demand fuel flow but in the case of a sheared fuel line restrict flow to under 0.56 g/s.
